Big Brothers Big Sisters of Northwest Florida announces its 2023 Escambia County Big Brother of the Year

Pensacola, Fla. – Big Brothers Big Sisters of Northwest Florida is proud to announce Kenon Beasley as
the recipient of the 2023 Big Brother of the Year award in Escambia County. Kenon was selected to
receive this honor due to his dedication in mentoring three Little Brothers.

Kenon has volunteered with Big Brothers Big Sisters for over ten years and is a current mentor to three
Little Brothers. He was matched with Apricio in 2012, Richard in 2021, and Zayshawn in 2022. This is a
huge commitment and one that Kenon takes very seriously. He always makes time for all three of his
Littles and is committed to helping each young man reach their full potential. Kenon has been an amazing
mentor and friend and has played a vital role in important milestones in each of his Littles’ lives. Kenon
helped Apricio succeed in middle and high school and he is now enlisted in the U.S. Marines. Richard is
attending Florida A&M University and studying Business Administration. Zayshawn plans to attend
Pensacola State College and study Nursing.

“My Big Brother has supplied a listening ear whenever I need help or guidance on problems I have and
has given me the best solutions he can from his experience of life,” says Little Brother Zayshawn. “My Big
Brother encourages me by telling me how he is proud of me, shows me support, and encouragement.”
On May 25, 2023, staff at Big Brothers Big Sisters surprised Kenon with this Big Brother of the Year
award, during a Governing Board meeting. His Little Brother Apricio, as well as some of his co-workers at
Navy Federal Credit Union, attended the meeting to congratulate Kenon on this much-deserving award.

“Mentoring in the BBBS program has been a rewarding experience,” says Kenon Beasley, Navy Federal
Credit Union. “I aim to spread positivity that encourages our youth to move forward in life and let them
know they have the potential to do great things!”

Kenon is a devoted mentor and is dedicated to our youth in Northwest Florida. We are so grateful to have
him as part of the Big Brothers Big Sisters family and are proud to present him with the 2023 Escambia
County Big Brother of the Year award.
