Big Brothers Big Sisters of Northwest Florida announces partnership with Levin Papantonio Rafferty Law Firm

Pensacola, Fla. – Big Brothers Big Sisters of Northwest Florida is excited to announce a new corporate partnership with Levin Papantonio Rafferty Law Firm in Pensacola. The firm has come on board as a Beyond School Walls partner, which is a program that matches employees with high school students in need of a mentor to help them with their life skills and a career vision.

“Levin Papantonio Rafferty is thrilled to be a part of this important mentorship program,” says LPR Associate Brenton Goodman. “ As members of a law firm that has served the people of Pensacola—and the world—for 67 years, our attorneys feel honored to have the opportunity to help shape the lives of high school students and put them on track for successful and rewarding careers.”

Starting in the Fall of 2022, a group of trained employees at the firm will meet with local high school students for a few hours each month at their office in downtown Pensacola. They will mentor the students and discuss topics such as goal setting, organizational skills, financial literacy and more. For students, the program provides a personal, hands-on experience in the workplace that shows students the value of hard work to drive their ambitions. For employee volunteers, it provides a meaningful way to give back to the community where they work and live.

“The students who participate in this program really enjoy spending time at our corporate sites learning new skills” says BBBS of NWFL President and CEO, Paula Shell. “It’s our goal at Big Brothers Big Sisters for our littles to be self-sufficient and earning a living wage by the age of 26. This program really gives our littles the foundation and support they need to make their decisions for the next stage in life.”

The Beyond School Walls program is a two-year commitment by our corporate partners to have volunteer employees mentor high school students during their junior and senior years, through graduation. It is aimed at helping students improve their chances of graduating and transitioning to the workplace and/or post-secondary education, vocational or military. The Levin Papantonio Rafferty Law Firm joins our other corporate partners in making this commitment: Pen Air Federal Credit Union, Navy Federal Credit Union, State Attorney’s Office, and the City of Pensacola.
