Our partners make it possible
Big Brothers Big Sisters of America and Comcast Corporation, both based in Philadelphia, began an unprecedented three-year partnership in June 2008.
Under the partnership, Comcast supports and encourages its employees to become Big Brothers Big Sisters mentors through the John Alchin Beyond School Walls program. This program brings Littles and Comcast employees together every other week over employees’ lunch hour. The program launched in 2008 in Philadelphia and will roll out to 10 additional cities by fall of 2010.
Comcast also provides airtime for public service announcements. In addition, Comcast offers program sponsorships, national board member support and Comcast University Leadership Development and Training scholarships for Big Brothers Big Sisters staff leaders.
“Comcast has been partnering with individual Big Brothers Big Sisters agencies for a number of years now,” said Charisse Lillie, Vice President of Community Investment and Executive Vice President of the Comcast Foundation. “Our partnership allows us to demonstrate our steadfast commitment to Big Brothers Big Sisters and invites our employees to really get involved.”
